A LOCAL school fete is set to return following a two year hiatus and it’s shaping up to be an epic day.
Decoy Community Primary School’s annual summer event, Decoy Fest, is coming back on June 25 and the school’s parent teacher association (PTA) are working hard behind the scenes to make sure it’s an event to remember.
PTA Chair Zoe McKenzie said: ‘Decoy Community Primary School has been famous for its summer fetes for years; I went to the school when I was a little girl and now I have the pleasure of Chairing the PTA 30 years later and being a part of the fab team planning this wonderful event.’
The PTA have been busy contacting local suppliers, businesses and entertainers in the area; many businesses have pledged support already, both on the day and for the PTA’s ‘win a trip’ raffle style game.
Andrea Keefe, Vice Chair of the PTA, said: ‘It’s an epic day, that takes a lot of planning, but we knew it’d be special to be part of it as a friend that used to attend Decoy as a child told me - it was her 2nd favourite day after Christmas!’.
The Waffle Inn, Donkey Rides Devon, Catherine’s Castles, Shaldon Zoo, and Riverford Organics as well as singers Georgia Omarah, Anais and Betsy are among the those supporting the event and there are many more besides.
Decoy Fest, scheduled for June 25 from 3pm until 7pm, will feature music from local artists, an assortment of food, games, face painting, bouncy castle, a bar and much more.
PTA member Lorna Cooper said: ‘We are all really looking forward to Decoy Fest.
‘The kids have missed out on so much the last couple of years, so we really want to make this year’s fete special.
‘It’s also an opportunity to raise some money for the school, everyone is welcome to come and join in the fun!’
The PTA are currently looking for support with BBQ items, soft drink mixers, chutneys and marmalades
