AIRCRAFT will be taking to the skies over south Devon this weekend for the English Riviera Airshow.
Organised by Torbay Council, with support from the English Riviera BID Company, the air shown takes place across Paignton seafront on Saturday June 3 and Sunday June 4, for a free, family day out with world class aerial displays and a carnival atmosphere.
More than 165,000 visitors are expected to watch, as some of the most iconic aircraft take to skies including the RAF Red Arrows, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight with the Spitfire, Hurricane, and Lancaster, alongside the Royal Navy Black Cats helicopter display and the Tigers Army Parachute Display team.
The show started in 2016 and has since be branded the English Riviera Airshow in 2020.
Adding to this year’s event will be the Royal Navy Wildcat, and close formation aerobatics from the team flying in the iconic Pitts Special biplane.
Other aircraft taking to the skies will be the Tigers Freefall Parachute Display Team, Jet Pitts, Strikemaster solo, Yakovlev Yak 50 solo, the OV-10 Bronco among others. The English Riviera Airshow will also feature plenty of ground activities, include an event village on Paignton Green with musical entertainment, trade-stands, fun fair, bouncy castles, food stands, and many stalls.
Sunday will see an Armed Forces re-enactment at 11.20am.
All air displays are subject to change depending on weather conditions and operational commitments that could take the military displays elsewhere at short notice.
