THE FAMILY of a woman who died on the A38 have launched a fund raising appeal to pay for her funeral and care for her two young children.

The 21-year-old has been named as Sophie Browne from Newton Abbot.

She died on the A38 near Chudleigh Knighton on May 25.

Police confirmed a pedestrian had died and the road was closed for 12 hours for investigations.

Tributes have been paid to the young mother and flowers left at the scene.

Her sister Chloe said family and friends have been ‘absolutely devastated’.

Chloe said her sister had a ‘massive impact’ on people’s lives and was ‘loved and cared for by so many people’.

But, she said Sophie had been ‘fighting too many demons’.

Chloe set up a GoFundMe page for her sister’s funeral which raised almost £2,000 in four days.

Any money left will go towards supporting Sophie’s two children, Rex and Reggie.

Paying tribute, Chloe said: ‘We sadly lost our dear Sophie Browne to an unfortunate battle with her mental health.

‘As you can imagine, her family and friends are absolutely devastated.

‘Sophie was loved and cared for by so many people, which makes this so difficult to process.

‘Sophie was taken from this world too young, however, she was fighting too many demons to the point where she just needed peace.

‘Sadly, she found peace in a way which meant she would no longer be with us.

‘I would also like to say how much everyone meant to Sophie. She loved and appreciated every single one of her friends and family.

‘Sophie had a massive impact on everyone’s lives as she was so special to everyone.

‘Thank you for all the love and kind messages her family and I have received, we are so grateful and blessed to have everyone around supporting us through this.

‘We are setting up this page in memory of Sophie to give her the send-off that she deserves.

‘We all love you Sophie, you’re at peace now.’
