’THE most lovely Christmas service I have ever known...’ that was the verdict of Dawlish Mayor, Cllr Val Mawhood, after the Community Carol Service and opening of the Christmas Tree Festival.
The service was held at the church of St Gregory the Great.
Cllr Mawhood said afterwards: ‘What can I say. That was quite simply the most lovely pre-Christmas service I have ever known.
‘I have heard similar comments from others who were there.
‘The combination of the children singing, the music group and the choir, together with the opportunity for everyone to join in with gusto made for a truly happy event.
‘On top of that the narrative which Tim and Angie put together in modern ‘speak’ really brought the message up to date for the youngsters and made it seem relevant to life today.
‘Of course, The Archdeacon and his story told in bars of chocolate will remain in my memory for years to come and, more importantly, in the memories of the children.
‘What a fun way to get the story across.
‘To top it all, there we were, surrounded by glittering Christmas trees, each telling a story and reminding us of the many groups and organisations which are so important to this community and which all help to make it such a great place to live!’
‘Congratulations to you and your team for organising such a lovely reminder of the Christmas story and for ‘Bringing Good Cheer’ to us all.’
