THE driver who died in a collision on the A382, near Chagford, on Sunday has been named as Anthony Niven, aged 66, from Cheriton Bishop.

Police investigating the single-vehicle road traffic collision involving a black Saab 93 convertible, on the A382 Chagford, Newton Abbot, at around 9.30pm, are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

A police spokesperson: ‘As a result of the collision, Mr Niven, who was driving the Saab, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

‘Local officers, as well as officers from the Alliance Roads Policing Team attended the scene and a forensic investigation was conducted.

‘It was left with highways to carry out emergency tree work before they could reopen the road.
