POLICE have further stepped up sanctions in a bid to stop anti-social behaviour at a Newton Abbot play park.

A Dispersal Order has been issued today for 48 hours until Thursday in response to more trouble at the Ashburton Road play area. 

A number of youths have already been excluded from the site. 

If they return during the 48 hours of the exclusion period, they will be arrested. 

Officers say they are continuing to get reports of trouble at the Ashburton Road play area.

Patrols have been increased in the park and officers confirmed they have witnessed the issues ‘first hand’.

A spokesman said: ‘We take a zero tolerance approach to all reports of anti-social behaviour.’

A £150,000 revamp of the park, also known as the Figure of 8, was officially reopened in March.
