NEWTON Abbot firefighters helped deal with a leaking gas cylinder in a shed at Stoke Gabriel this morning (Monday).

They were joined by a fire appliance from Paignton at the shed attached to a domestic garage.

A Fire Control spokesperson said: ‘Crews got to work with two breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet at the ready, making the cylinder safe.

‘Crews managed to isolate the gas on a 47kg cylinder, and checked it with a gas detector.

‘The incident was then handed over to the occupants of the property.’
