FIREFIGHTERS from Newton Abbot were alerted to tackle a fire which broke out at an Abbotskerswell car dealership.

Crews were called in to Denbury Diesels where they discovered a flat bed recovery vehicle well alight.

The flat bed’s brakes had then failed and it had rolled into a nearby shipping container which also caught alight.

Firefighters wore sets of breathing apparatus and used a hose reel jet, a main jet and a thermal imaging camera to put out the fire and check for hot spots.

The flat bed vehicle was totally destroyed but the contents of the container were saved.
