A WOMAN from Chudleigh Knighton has been remanded in custody charged with arson.

Davinia Moore, 53, of Teign View, Chudleigh Knighton, appeared before magistrates facing four charges.

She is charged with two counts of arson involving two cars and a further charge of criminal damage to a vehicle.

She is also accused of harassment.

Magistrates heard the first arson charge relates to the destruction of a Hyundai belonging to Sarah Smith at River Valley Road, Chudleigh Knighton on April 19 2024.

The second charge of arson was on the same date and also at River Valley Road, where a Mazda car, belonging to Gary Smith, was damaged by fire.

Both arson charges are that Moore damaged the vehicles intending to destroy or damage the property or being reckless as to whether property would be destroyed or damaged.

Moore is also accused of criminal damage to a car, on January 29 at River Valley Road, Chudleigh Knighton by throwing a brick through the window of the vehicle belonging to Gary Smith.

The final charge is of harassment without violence.

This alleges Moore pursued a course of conduct which amounted to the harassment of Gary and Sara Smith at River Valley Road on November 23 2023.

The charge alleges she attended their addresses several times, contacted Sara Smith’s work to cause issues with her employed and left items at their address in a ‘warning’ in an attempt to get them to cease spreading rumours about Moore.

She was remanded in custody to appear at Exeter Crown Court on May 23 for trial.
